This
Thirteen day cultural journey has all the things you expect
for a trip to Bhutan, but even if you have been before,
this trip will be a surprise. After sight seeing the must
see places in Bhutan, on day 5 after breakfast, you will
travel from Bumthang on a 12 Km drive to the Chumey Valley
to see the last day of the Prakhar Festival. This is a
unique village festival celebrated every year in honor of
Lama Thukse Dawa, son of the Treasure Discoverer, Pema
Lingpa who lived in Bumthang Valley in the 15th century.
After a full
day
at the Prakhar Festival we will over night at the River
Lodge in Bumthang as the guests of Lopon Pema. The very
next day we will partake of the local flavor of the Jambay
Lakhang Festival in the near by Chokor Valley. It is here
that tales of the Guru Padmasambhava was reincarnated
multiple times as a Terton. From here we will leave
Bumthang and the River Lodge to the Tang Valley and return
to Thimphu for shopping and a day excursion to the World
Heritage sight of Taktsang Monastery (the Tiger's Nest).
